  3. Please read these instructions before installing and using ScoutWare.

  5. INTRODUCTION
  6.  
  7. Thank you for choosing ScoutWare for Windows.  We appreciate any and all
  8. comments that you have concerning this software.  Our goal is to make this
  9. package as simple, robust and user-friendly as we can.  Please report any 
  10. defects or any suggestions for enhancements or new features to us at:

  15. a one line message to majordomo@list.us.net containing the following words:

  19. We prefer that you submit your questions and defect reports to the mailing 
  20. list so that other users can offer assistance or advice in addition to our
  21. staff, and so that others can see the answers to problems that they might
  22. encounter.

  24. INSTALLATION
  25.  
  26. After you run the SW_130.EXE self-extracting file, you find all of the 
  27. installation files.  These files should be placed in the same temporary 
  28. subdirectory (e.g. C:\TEMP).  If you would like to give someone else the 
  29. ScoutWare setup files on diskette, then SW_130.EXE needs to be extracted 
  30. using "-d" as the command line qualifier.  The command line from DOS is:
  31.  
  32. SW_130.EXE -d
  33.  
  34. This will cause the setup files to be unzipped into two subdirectories, 
  35. DISK1 and DISK2.  We have done this to make it easier for you to distribute 
  36. the software to other scouters.

  38. Now you are ready to setup ScoutWare.  From the Windows Program Manager, 
  39. select File and then Run from the pull-down menu.  On the command line type
  40. C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE and click OK.  The setup program will then do the rest.

  68. REPORTING DEFECTS

  70. When you find an error or defect in the program, we will try to resolve it 
  71. as soon as possible.  To assist us in fixing the errors, please send us an 
  72. e-mail message with the following information:

  74. Version of ScoutWare
  75. Exact description of the problem
  76. Exact error message displayed (if any)
  77. Detailed desciption of the scenario which created the problem
  78.  
  79. UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION
  80.  
  81. You should be able to install each new version of the software over your old 
  82. version without difficulty.  Each new version will recognize data files created
  83. with previous versions, and perform the necessary conversion to the upgrade 
  84. version.

  86. The upgrade file, SWXXXXXX.exe, (XXXXXX is the month, day and year, so an 
  87. upgrade released on 03/14/95 would be SW031495.EXE) contains only those files 
  88. which have been changed since the last release.  This self-extracting executable 
  89. cannot be used for a first-time installation.
